An attempt to evaluate and establish a precise chronology

Abstract
This paper attempts to evaluate and establish a precise chronology for the text of the Ecclesiastical History and Mystical Contemplation [CPG 8023] of Germanus I, Patriarch of Constantinople, as given in Migne’s Patrologia Graeca, on the basis of the references to the Prothesis rite within this text. Using the comparative liturgy method, Migne’s text is compared with earlier versions of the same text and other liturgical commentaries. It is established that this text is a composite text and probably describes liturgical practice relating to the Prothesis in the half of the 12th century.

Questo articolo tenta di valutare e stabilire una cronologia precisa per il testo della Storia ecclesiastica e contemplazione mistica [CPG 8023] di Germano I, Patriarca di Costantinopoli, come riportato nella Patrologia Graeca di Migne, sulla base dei riferimenti al rito della Prothesis contenuti in questo testo. Usando il metodo della liturgia comparata, il testo di Migne viene confrontato con versioni precedenti dello stesso testo e con altri commentari liturgici. Si stabilisce che questo testo è un testo composito e probabilmente descrive la pratica liturgica relativa alla Prothesis nella metà del XII secolo.
